4th edition of Diamond FM’s Damba festival Blood donation and renewal of Health insurance for the Vulnerable yields more success.

The Fourth edition of the Diamond FM 2021 Damba festival Blood donation and renewal of Health insurance for widows, orphans and elderly ended successfully on Monday at the premises of Diamond FM in the Tamale Metropolis.

The annual exercise attracted listeners from all walks of life and supporters of the various political parties participate the exercise to climax this year Diamond FM Damba festivities.

This year’s Diamond Damba Festival event rallied cash support and other gifts from high profiled personalities including the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie, Trades Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng among others.

Other Personalities including Nana Yaa Jantua, National General Sectary of the Convention Peoples Party, (CPP) Northern Regional Sectary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mohammed Abdul Salam, Savannah Regional Communication director of NPP, Mohammed Issah, Northern Regional Sectary of CPP Nuhu Jenli, the acting Northern Regional communication director of NPP Mohammed Sheriff, among others showed up.

Also communicators for the major political parties that appeared on Diamond FM Morning drive lauded the initiative, and re-echoed the need for peace and unity among the various political parties in the region.

Some of the blood donors spoke about why they chose to partake in the live saving event organized by Diamond fM. ”am I happy to be part of this exercise to save live,” one donor indicated.

Meanwhile Iddi Fuseini Zakaria, senior blood donor organizer at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, who led the team commended Diamond fM for the exercise, saying the national blood bank at the Tamale Teaching Hospital had not been able to mobilize unit of bloods as it’s gotten from this year Diamond FM Damba festival blood donation.

He said the support, will go a long way to improve blood supply at the blood bank of the TTH. “Infact it has been long time we had this type of blood donation since inception of COVID-19.

Still on the Diamond Damba Festival blood donation, Abdul Jalil Abdulai, a community lead of Zipline, who partnered Diamond fM and the TTH for his year’s blood mobilization drive, has also commended the radio station for initiating such a move to save lives in Hospitals within the catchment.

According to him, voluntary blood donation within the Region has been gone down since the inception of COVID-19, 

Abdul Jalil Abdulai in a brief interaction with Diamond News, encouraged other Radio stations and youth groups in the region to emulate Diamond fM.by donating blood to the various hospitals to enable them save lives.

“I wish Diamond FM organized this exercise quarterly to aid the national blood bank at the Tamale Teaching Hospital to enable them save lives”, he added.
