36th National Farmers’ Day events to be held across the country tomorrow Friday

The 36th National Farmers’ Day (NFD), events would be held across the country on Friday Nov 6.

President Nana Akuffo Addo will be the special guest at the national celebration where he also would present an incentive packages to the overall national best farmer at a ceremony to be hosted at Techiman in the newly created Bono East Region.

Farmers’ day was instituted some 36 years ago to reward hard working and gallant farmers and fisher folks for feeding the nation as well as contributing to the overall development of the country.

The event which is held on the first Friday of December each year has thus been brought forward to November, with the pending general elections also in December.

This year’s national farmers’ day would be marked under the theme: “Ensuring Agricultural Development under COVID-19; Opportunities and Challenges”.

There will be district events taking place as well with distinguished farmers that have followed through with best agronomic and sustainable environmental practices going home with rewards. Distinguished Agricultural extension agents too will be acknowledged for their efforts.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery has in a statement said tomorrow November 6, is not a public holiday whereas the December remains the statutory holiday?

On that note Diamond FM wish all farmers and fisher folks a happy farmers’ day for feeding us!
