The 2019 edition of the Northern Ghana investment conference has been launched in Tamale with the aim of promoting businesses and investments opportunities in the area.
The four days event which is on the theme; “Celebrating Peace and Unity for Accelerated Development,” would bring together stakeholders in the agricultural sector, banking, SMEs, ICT and other business persons to discuss and find ways to unlocking the investments opportunities in the region.
Chief Executive Officer of Ridmut Consult, Mutawakil Riyad in an address said alleviating poverty and deprivation in Northern Ghana are anchored on the development of the numerous untapped natural and human resources within the area.
Sighting a report from the Ghana Investments Promotion Center which showed that, less than 0.1% of foreign investment attracted into Ghana come into the Northern sector, he said this do not only show the lack of attention on wealth creation in the North, but also a failure of the country’s development and investment policies.
Secretary to the Yaa-Naa in an address called for collaborative efforts to deal with human security challenges in Dagbon before they undermine the peace and security and human development gains of the Nation.
He said the Gbewaa palace was committed to supporting initiatives that seek to address peace, poverty reduction, deprivation and the development of Dagbon.
Other Speakers including founder of the Partnership for Poverty Reduction, an NGO Alhaji Farouk Mahama who urged stakeholders to consolidate the gains of peace in the area in order to attract more development into the region.
As part of the event, stakeholders will hold a roundtable discussion on the theme “Northern Ghana Agricultural Outlook and Business Strategy Roundtable” to help share ideas, interrogate current trends and proffer solutions to minimize effects of the challenges identified.
An awards and dinner night will also be held to honor organizations and individuals that have demonstrated core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective sectors.
