The Northern Regional Executive Elections Committee (NREEC), has cleared 31 regional executives aspirants to contest for the party’s regional elections in the Northern Region.
The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set May 27 to May 29, 2022, to conduct the party’s regional elections across the country to elect new executives to manage the affairs of the party at the regional level.
About 380 delegates in the Northern Region are expected to participate in the upcoming NPP Northern Regional Delegates Conference scheduled for May 27, 2022.
The executive elections committee at a media briefing on Thursday May 19, 2022 said, all the 31 aspirants duly met the requirements spelt out by the party for the election “as of close of vetting on May 18, 2022, all 31 individuals were successfully vetted and duly cleared for contest after having met the eligibility criteria as specified in the party’s constitution and election regulations”.
The committee in its address however, commended the aspirants for ensuring a successful vetting process on Wednesday May 18, 2022.
Addressing the media, the chairman of the committee who is also the Deputy Minister for Energy and Member of Parliament (MP) for Karaga constituency, Mohammed Amin Adam Anta, while commending the aspirants also warn the aspirants against campaigning at the elections ground on May 27, 2022.
He indicated that, the Committee will not delay in taking appropriate actions against aspirant(s) who failed to adhere to the directives by the committee. He said unity of the party is most paramount and must be upheld by the aspirants.
He said to ensure a successful Conference in the region, the Committee set up a sub-committee to aid in various capacities in its operations. The committees include, Communications Sub-Committee, Organizational Sub-Committee, Elections Sub-Committee, Security Sub-Committee among others.
The chairman of the committee, in his address also said to ensure peace and security during the exercise, only accredited persons would be allowed at the election grounds. He urges all the aspirants to engage in decent and civil campaign as they continue appeal to delegates for votes.
The 31 persons are contesting for 10 different regional positions including the almighty Regional Chairmanship position.
The incumbent Northern Regional Chairman Mohammed Bantimah Samba is facing Alhaji Amadu Inusah Dagomba Boy, the former Yendi constituency Chairman., and Ibrahim Mahama who joined the race few days ago.
The other contested position is the Regional Organizer position. Incumbent Alhaji Rashid Salifu COP, is facing a stiff battle against Mensah Benjamin, a business man.
Another hot contest is the position of Youth Organizer, where incumbent Alhassan ‘Ghana’ is facing the strongest of competitions Abdul Mumin Salifu COP, and Musah Mohammed Amin from the Yendi constituency.
The other battleground is the Secretary position the incumbent Regional Secretary, Alhaji Alhassan Sibdow Yakubu, is facing strong competition with Mutawakilu Musah, Hudu Zakaria and Abdulai Iddrisu Aloma.

PRESS CONFERENCE Thursday 19/05/22 COMPLETION OF VETTING AND ELECTION ARRANGEMENTS — NORTHERN REGION

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, we are happy to host you this morning. As you may have been aware, the NPP has commenced processes to elect Regional Executives in the 16 Regions across the Nation. In view of this, the Northern Regional Executive Elections Committee (NREEC) – mandated to steer the affairs of the elections in the Northern Region has successfully vetted 31
Aspirants who filed nominations for various Positions in the upcoming Regional Executive Elections.
As of close of vetting on 18/05/22 all 31 individuals were successfully vetted and duly cleared for contest after having met the eligibility criteria as specified in the party’s constitution and election regulations. The qualified Aspirants are; (Find List Attached together with Ballot Positions).
IMPORTANT ARRANGEMENTS
Aspirants and Stakeholders are entreated to take note of the following arrangements in relation to the Elections as determined by the NREEC:

- VENUE: Modern City Hotel, Tamale
- TIME OF CONFERENCE: 08:00AM
- TIME OF ELECTION: 10:00AM Prompt
NOTE: Kindly do note that the Conference/Election is strictly by invitation, and only Accredited Delegates/Persons will be allowed into the premises.
The Committee takes this opportunity to convey warm felicitations and gratitude to all Aspirants for their cooperation thus far. The Committee continues to urge all Aspirants to engage in decent and civil campaign as they appeal to delegates for votes. Aspirants are also informed that no campaign is allowed on the day of voting and on the election’s grounds.
In the event of any breach of the above directives, the Committee will not delay in taking appropriate actions against Aspirant(s) who will be found culpable. *It is important to also note that the Unity of the party is most paramount and must be upheld by all Aspirants.
