• Residents caught up in clashes between kokobas and Chekosi in the Chereponi area want more security personnel to be deployed on the ground to deal with the insecurity

Despite the deployment of more security personnel from Tamale and Yendi to the Chereponi area to contain violence that erupted between Konkombas and Chokosis in the district, some residents say they are still living in fears.  

It is reported that more than six communities of the Chokosis has been razed down as results of the clash and several of the people caught in the exchanges are fleeing to neighbouring Togo.

The Northern Regional Security Council, on Wednesday dispatched more security personnel in the area to restored law and order, however the residents in the area are claiming that the security personnel are not enough, hence their inability to control the situation.

Meanwhile some members of Anafu community in Tamale, have called on Northern Regional coordinating council to take the clashes more seriously.

Spokesperson for the group, Dr Solomon Gumanga, who addressed the media in Tamale describe the current happing in Chereponi as unfortunate and thereby called on the defense and interior ministers to act quickly to restore calm in the area  

 ‘’We want both defense and interior minister to act fast.  We thought the authorities were putting up measures to address the issue but that has not happened and we are  worried about the way they are treating this issue, Dr. Gumanga said adding that: ’’ we want the leadership of kokombas community in the area to educate their people to ceasefire and stop attacking their neighbors.‘’
