YOUNG ELECTRICIANS UNDERGOING TRAINING IN THE NORTHERN REGION

A Six months intensive training aimed at building the capacities of over one hundred young electricians apprentice in the Northern Region is underway in Tamale.

It is being organized by Issah Adam an electrical engineer and philanthropist in the country in collaboration with the Managing Director of Flow Farms Issah Abdul Nasir

The training is a voluntary agreement between the two individuals, to provide training opportunities to empower over one hundred young electricians apprentice with electrical wiring skills in the Northern Region.

Issah Abdul Nasir speaking on behalf of his co-partner Issah Adam, indicated that Issah Adam an electrical engineer who is close to his retirement age initiated the program to uplift young electrical apprentices in the Northern Region by organizing the training.

Speaking exclusively to Diamond News The MD of Flow Farms explained that, the training, would address challenges faced by local electricians including independent skills, he stated that it is important to position the youth in this part of the country properly by supporting them to upgrade their skills to national standards to enable them have their share of the national market in electrical engineering.

“We believed that a better society is not achieved when the people are not successful, so all is not lost in people’s lives if they can have a formal education, they can still get skills and be part of the society because we think education is not just about certificates but rather empowering the people to attain the skills that can earn them a better livelihood”, he stated.

According to the MD of Flow Farms, handbooks which contain all the syllables of Electrical Wiring were provided freely to the participants. He added that the program which commenced in June this year would run till November 2019 this year.

He mentioned that arrangements are being put in place to register all the participants after the program to undertake Energy Commission’s Electrical Exams in November this year to enable them attract some certificates for themselves.

Issah Abdul Nasir also revealed that measures have been put in place to support the beneficiaries after the exams to form a unique body to enable them lobby for jobs as contractors.

“This is not a political project but rather a self-initiative program to support young electricians in the Northern Region to have meaningful lives”, he stated.

The Director of Flow Farms however called on other benevolent institutions that have interest in supporting young people in the North to support the project to impart the knowledge to young electricians of the North.

He also encouraged the beneficiaries to take the training seriously to improve their skills for a better future.

A facilitator of the training, Issah Adam, said the training would sharpen the expertise of participant’s electrical wiring skills to operate within their localities effectively. He however urged them to desist from being agents of illegal connections in the society.
