Young activists take climate change sensitization to farmers in the Savelugu Municipality

Young activists are taking up the challenge of climate change seriously by stepping forward and leading with actions that would mitigate the impact of such phenomenon.

One of such is Activista, a youth led network an appendage of Actionaid International Ghana who are fighting poverty and inequalities at all levels.

The network in the Northern Region over the weekend took their activism to Kpalyogu in the Savelugu Municipality where they engaged community leaders, farmers including women and the youth on a sensitization on the impact of climate change and its mitigating actions in the municipality

Northern Regional Coordinator of Activista, Yussif Iddi Rayan addressing the community event stated that climate action is a global issue and much is expected from all especially where livelihoods of rural farmers are concerned.

Secretary of Activista in the Northern Region, Issahaku Abdul-Latif also echoed the importance of communities joining hands in order to address their challenges which include climate change.

He said as activists they had a responsibility to talk to communities in ensuring that they find solutions to reducing the impact of climate change at the grassroot especially where livelihoods are concerned.

The community members particularly women took turns to speak on how climate change were impacting negatively on their farming activities.
