WOMEN GROUPS IN TAMALE CENTRAL’S NDC JOIN IN FUNDRAISING TOWARDS JOHN MAHAMA’S COMEBACK!

Hundreds of women groups within the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC in the Tamale Central Constituency, have began raising funds in support the party’s flagbearer hopeful,  John Dramani Mahama .

The groups said this is to enable him get the GHc 420,000 nomination and filling fee announced by the party’s leadership.

The women, who gathered at the constituency chairman’s office in Tamale to raise the funds, told Diamond News that they were contributing 2 cedis each to support the former president to pay the filling fee.

The Tamale central constituency chairman, Farouck Kanewu, also told Diamond News, that they are doing all what they could to raise the filling fee for the former president to come back and complete his developmental project he left behind.

Announcement regarding the 420,000 cedis filing fees raised a lot of concerns among individuals and even some of the aspirants who have described the amount as outrageous and a deliberate attempt to block them from contesting in the race to becoming flagbearer.

However Five out of the 13 presidential aspirants for the NDC managed to beat the 5 pm deadline of picking nomination forms on Tuesday December 4. The five are; former President John Dramani Mahama, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Joshua Alabi; former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah, a member of the NDC’s Communications Team, Stephen Atubiga and Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin.
