An Assistant Superintendent of Immigration, (ASI) Yaw Brifo has suggested to government to allocate some of its social intervention programmes, to cover returnee and deported migrants.
According to the Senior Immigration Officer at the Immigrations Headquarters in Accra, incidence of illegal migration could reduce significantly if government made some allocations of its social policies such as the NABCO, Planting for food and jobs programme etc, to these groups of persons.
ASI Brifo disclosed this in interview with diamond news, on the maiden edition of a radio campaign on migration and human trafficking, run by Media response and the Ghana independent broadcasters association (GIBA).
A journalist, Maxwell Suuk sharing some insight on migration reporting, expressed regret at the increasing trends in migration and called for urgent steps to stem the tide especially of illegal migration.
