We are saddened by your defiant posture Daboya/Mankarigu NPP to Logistics Support Services.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the DABOYA / MANKARIGU constituency in the Savanna region is threatening to initiate legal actions against LOGISTICS SUPPORT SERVICES ltd to force the company to return to site or get their contract to construct the DABOYA – BUSUNU road terminated.

The Party said they were saddened and shocked by the defiant posture and attitude of LOGISTICS SUPPORT SERVICES, a company owned by Mr. Peter Mahama, one of the blood brothers of Candidate Mahama towards it’s contractual responsibility on the Daboya – Busunu Road.

In a statement copied to Diamond News, the DABOYA / MANKARIGU communications directorate of the NPP questioned why the contractor is still not back on site after government in November, 2019 through the Ministry of Finance released about Ghc2.2 billion to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to pay for works done by road contractors across the country.

Below is the full Press Release from the NPP DABOYA / MANKARIGU communications directorate.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 13/01/2020

THE NPP DABOYA / MANKARIGU COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORATE .

MR. PETER MAHAMA MUST RETURN TO THE DABOYA – BUSUNU ROAD CONSTRUCTION SITE; GOVERNMENT HAS PAID HIS COMPANY

We are profoundly saddened and shocked by the defiant posture and attitude of LOGISTICS SUPPORT SERVICES, a company owned by Mr. Peter Mahama, one of the blood brothers of Candidate Mahama towards it’s contractual responsibility on the Daboya – Busunu Road. The road (Daboya-Busunu) is a 53km road with the Ghana Highway Authority Tamale as CONSULTANT and Ministry of Road and Highways as CLIENT.

It was a 30month contract period which commenced in January, 2015 with a physical progress of 64.68% from a previous progress of 58.62% as at June, 2017, the contract sum is Ghc42,152,423.75.

Infrastructure development under the Mahama led NDC government was characterized by massive corruption through contract over pricing, opaque and shady contracting processes, and gross abuse of the sole sourcing provision of the public procurement Act. It’s in respect of this that President Akuffo Addo adopted a mutually beneficial principal financing module and executive strategy.

The President has unlocked, under the National Asset Protection Project, the billions of Ghana Cedis in numerous uncompleted projects scattered around the country by conducting physical and financial audit to locate, identify, value, scrutinize and raise funding on the back of this to complete viable projects.

The good people of Daboya/Mankarigu and North Gonja District Assembly for that matter were very much excited that at long last, the Daboya-Busunu road (53km) and Daboya-Mankarigu road (72km) will receive a life line after they were treated to a populist electoral fortune strategy by the previous government without actual funding for such two major projects.

It is therefore not surprising that, in November, 2019 the Akuffo government through the Ministry of Finance released about Ghc2.2 billion to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to pay for works done by road contractors across the country. The Daboya/Mankarigu constituents were in cloud nine over this financial commitment by H.E Akuffo Addo, knowing too well that, the long held excuse by Logistics Support Services that government (Both previous and present) did not pay him to be able to fully execute the 53km road project has finally been sorted paving way for the contractor to return to site.

It has been two (2) clear months already after this stellar and strenuous effort by government in clearing this inherited debt, shocking enough Logistics Support Services has failed to report to site to continue construction works.

Whiles the constituents are demanding answers from Logistics Support Services, a construction firm owned by Mr. Peter Mahama brother of Candidate Mahama, we are however alarmed that a business module like Logistics support Services is in bed with the NDC in deploying and exploring delay tactics to create the impression in the minds of people that, because he is a brother to Candidate Mahama, he has been denied payment or prevented from continuing the project he got under his brother’s tenure. This singular act is derailing the efforts of government to fix the road, hence the need for us to serve as a voice for our people.

The North Gonja District Assembly faces road infrastructure as a major nightmare in accelerating it’s development needs. Some of the key and critical roads includes:

1. Daboya – Bawena (28km).

2. Wawato – Grubagu (8.5km).

3. Kuporto – Yazori (15km).

4. Lingbinsi – Wawato (18km).

5. Mankarigu – Zeipe – Sagya (7.2km).

6. Mankarigu – Mempeasem (30km).

7. Kuporto – Kpulumbo (6km).

8. Kparia Junction – Kparia (1.5km).

9. Tari #2 – Salugu – Nabengu (25km).

10. Tidrope – Adape (1.5km).

The government has repackaged the Daboya – Mankarigu road (72km) to a bitumen road and contractors are already on site and work is steadily on going, this is far more better than the rehabilitation works the previous government planned on same road in November, 2016.

The DCE, Hon Adam Eliasu Red Bawa has carried out works on a number of major roads as well:

1. Spot improvement on Bugsa – Sagya feeder road.

2. Spot improvement on Mankarigu – Bugsa feeder road.

3. Spot improvement on Yagbon – Zeipe feeder road.

4. Spot improvement on Junction – Chief Palace feeder road in Daboya.

5. Spot improvement of weaving centre road in Daboya.

6. Construction of 2 no. Culverts on the Daboya Polyclinic road.

7. Spot improvement of Daboya – Shensi road.

8. Opening up of Pentecost –  Kadacon road in Daboya.

The following roads are also on the verge of been awarded:

1. 28.2km Daboya – Bawena Road.

2. 25.5km Lingbinsi Grubagu Road and

3. 16km Yazori – Kuporto Road.

Finally, we are by this release, demanding with all the seriousness it deserves that Logistics Support Services report to site as immediate as possible. Failure to adhere to this will result to us taking fair and legal arms and means for the contract to be terminated and re-awarded to a serious contractor.

This singular bad faith and defiant attitude of not returning to site has giving the leverage to the remorseless and callous gangs of NDC communicators perpetuating deliberate attacks on the DCE and the government, henceforth we shall not sit and allow this from you (for refusing to return to site) or the NDC elements for their naked insults.
