Unhappy Arabic Instructors want their salaries from government now!

Some Arabic Instructors in the Northern Regions have appealed to government to pay their outstanding salaries to them. This is to enable them to deliver their services efficiently.

According to the aggrieved Arabic instructors, they have not received their monthly stipend for over a year now.

The Arabic instructors’ were engaged under the YEA, following a campaign promise of the governing New Patriotic Party.

Speaking to Diamond News under condition of anonymity, the frustrated Arabic instructors in the region stated that, the YEA authorities over the few months carried out validation exercise among Arabic instructors in the region to enable government process their payment, however after the exercise just about 70% of the Arabic instructors had been attended to, leaving the 30%.

They expressed worry over the method of the payment of their salaries and the decision of the YEA authorities to remain mute over their issue.  The Arabic instructors also in the Northern Region said they believe the Northern Regional authorities of YEA are to be blamed for the non-payment of their salaries.

After checking everything, it is the Regional officers, who are not releasing the monies for payment to us as Arabic instructors. We are appealing to the government to look at this so that all Arabic instructors will be paid their arrears. They think that because we are mallams and we are always speaking on peace, our grievances cannot be addressed.”

They are pleading with the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development to urgently step in to address their concern.

However reacting to the issue, the northern regional monitoring and evaluation officer of the YEA, Alhaji Shamsu Alhaji Baba Dua, assured the Arabic instructors that government is putting in efforts to release funds for onward payment.
