UDS crush Nigeria 4-1 in Egypt in the Africa Universities Olympic Games

The University for Development Studies football team raised the flag of Ghana high when they beat Nigeria 4-1 in the maiden edition of the Africa University Olympic Games held in Cairo Egypt.

Abubakari Mohammed popularly known as “Chief ” grabbed a brace for UDS before Wadudu and Maulaya sealed the victory for “the pride of Ghanaian Universities”.

The UDS sports team on Tuesday arrived in Egypt to participate in its first ever African Universities Olympic games.

The UDS contingent were led by the Technical Director and Head of the Sports Department Coach Ibrahim Tanko (Off the Road) who master minded the University success when they won 13 medals in all to place fourth out of 47 competing schools with seven gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze at the FASU GAMES in Mekelle University Ethiopia in July 2018.

The games kick started on Tuesday 12th March to 19th of March, 2019, will see more than thirty (30) universities across Africa competing for major honors in soccer, athletics and basketball.

They will play Comoros on Thursday at 2:00CAT Egypt time and 12pm Ghana Time.
