Thirty-five year old Tahiru Mohammed nabbed in connection with Nyanshegu killing and attempted rape!

Police in the Northern Region have arrested a 35 year old man in connection with the murder of Abdul-Halim and attempted rape of one Rashida Abukari at Nyanshegu in Tamale.

 Suspect, Tahiru Mohammad who is a resident of Agric Traffic light, at an identification parade was identified by victim, Rashida as the one who shot at her.

 According to the Northern Regional Police crime officer, Superintendent Otuo Acheampong, Tahiru Mohammad is currently in Police custody and is assisting with investigations.

 He said intelligence led to the arrest of the suspect and urged the public to provide the Police with credible information that will lead to the arrest of any person involved.

 It will be recalled that, on July 1, 2020, Diamond news reported the gruesome murder of Abdul Halim who attempted to rescue a rape victim from a gunman at Nyanshegu.

 The victim, was shot in the right thigh when she resisted the rape attempt.

 The Police had earlier said the suspect Tahiru Mohammad took to his heels after the act and also shot the deceased Abdul Halim after an attempt to apprehend him.

The victim, Rashida Abukari is currently responding to treatment after she was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical care.
