The Northern Regional Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abdul-Rashid C.O.P has described the campaigns against current regional chairman of the party as unfortunate.
According to him the campaign ‘Samba must go” will not lead the party to good fortunes; rather it will destroy and create more wounds for the party in the region.
Alhaji Rashid observed that there are machinations by some faceless individuals for Chairman Samba to be removed just because they want him to award them contracts. He however warned that any attempt to go on such path, will mean pressing an automatic destruction button.
The creation of the new North East and Savanna regions has brought chaos over the regional chairmanship position as well as other executive positions. There have been series of press conferences in recent times by some youth groups within the NPP asking the current regional Chairman, Samba, to move to his mother region; the North east to render his services there in order to pave way for other candidates since his played a key role during the referendum.
Commenting on the development, the regional organizer of the NPP, on Diamond fm stated that Chairman Samba had so far fulfilled most of his campaign promises, saying there wouldn’t be anybody to march him even if his term in office expires. Alhaji Rashid COP however admonished those behind the ‘Samba must go campaign’ to restrain themselves and allow the chairman to continue with his efforts at garnering more votes for the NPP.
On the allege proposal from the Tamale mayor to slash by 10 percent; payments to caterers under the national school feeding programme in the northern region, Alhaji Rashid assured that they would ascertain the truth and later meet the mayor.
‘’I have not meet with this women group and I’m unable to tell if these are our party people or not, but until I meet to find out whether they are the party people working under the school feeding, then I can also meet the mayor. So in fact I will find out if that is true, I will talk to the MAYOR to desist from that because that will not help our party.’ Alhaji Rashid stressed.
