The passage of anti-Vigilantism bill into law would strengthen national peace and social cohesion, says President Akuffo Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given the assurance that the passage of the Bill against Vigilantism would strengthen national peace and social cohesion.

The Bill, he explained was put before Parliament and its passage would not only disband political vigilante groups, but target and fish out individual politicians who finance the groups.

President Akufo-Addo said his government would not sit unconcerned for political parties and politicians to intimidate and put unnecessary fear in the minds and heart of Ghanaian voters.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Sankore to kick-start his three-day working visit to Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions, President Akufo-Addo condemned the recurring political violence at Sankore and promised his government’s determination to promote peace and stability in the area.

He said the era of intimidations and political violence was past and thus the need to create peaceful atmosphere for Ghanaian voters to feel free and cast their ballot in Election 2020 to consolidate the gains of Ghana’s democracy.

President Akufo-Addo applauded the chiefs and people of the area for the peaceful referendum towards the creation of the new Ahafo Region and entreated the people to do same in Election 2020.
