Tamale South: Work on ‘one village one dam’ at various stages of completion

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tamale South constituency, Hon Yakubu Yussif has on Sunday 11th April 2020 expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done on the construction of dams under the One Village One Dam projectat some selected communities in the constituency.

TheNPP PC expressed his satisfaction when he toured the project site together with the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Iddrisu Musah Superior.

“Am impressed with the progress of work so far”

He said his outfit in collaboration with the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly is on course to ensure the successful complete of the 12 dams the NPP government promised the people of Tamale South by the end of 2020.

The projects are at various stages of completion at Bagliga/Bagliga-Dakpemyili , Cheshee, Kudula, and Gnozie communities.

The One Village One Adam initiative is part of the one million dollar per constituency manifesto promised under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) being implemented by the Ministry for Special Development Initiative.

Addressing the media after the tour, Mr Yakubu Yusif noted that the 1V1D initiative sought to ensure an all-year-round availability of water for farming and livestock rearing for smallholder farmers in the constituency.

He added that the completion of these dams will go a long way to eradicate poverty among the beneficiary communities since the community members will engage all year farming.

Mr Yussif speaking at a separate meeting also assured the people of Tamale South constituency his outfit is working closely with the Tamale MCE and other developmental agencies to lobby for more developmental projects to transform the constituency.

“I am urging members of the beneficiaries and the people of Tamale South to give President Nana Akufo-Addo another four-year mandate and vote for me as your Member of Parliament to enable me and the government continue our good work for the constituency and the country at large”, he stated.

He also called on members of the four beneficiary communities to collaborate with the contractor to enable him carry out diligent work.  

On his short statement, the Mayor of Tamale Iddrisu Musah Superior commended the NPP PC for his continues good work towards developing Tamale South constituency.

He stated that the execution of the 1V1D project in the constituency is through the efforts of the NPP PC, therefore it is prudent for people of Tamale South to give him their mandate come December 7th 2020.

The contractor working on the project, Hudu Amadu opine that the dam at chashee is left with phase two of the project, which he said is the graveling of the embankment and planting of grass along the banks.

He promised to complete the project on time

Meanwhile, some residents of the beneficiary communities who could not hide their happiness however commend the NPP PC and government for ensuring the construction of the dams at their various localities.

They said this will end their annual water crisis most especially the dry season.
