The Northern regional women organizer of the NPP Hajia Rahana Abdal Aziz has called on Ghanaians to support initiatives put in place by government in a bid to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
She specifically mentioned the COVID-19 fund set up by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to help cushion the vulnerable and those who will be worst-hit by the pandemic.
Hajia Rahana Abdal Aziz indicated that, “the President has already shown commitment to the fight against the coronavirus, he has donated his three months’ salary to the fund, the Vice President and other government appointees has also done same”.
Speaking to Diamond News after donating over 2,000 hand sanitizes to market women at the Tamale central market and the Aboabo markets, she urged the public to follow the precautionary protocols put out by the Ghana health service, the Ministry of health and the World Health Organization.
“We should all begin to wash our hands often as we are told, and also ensure social distancing and avoid handshakes. They are all important to help fight the spread of the virus”.
Hajia Rahana Abdal Aziz also called on the Information Services Department to intensify their public sensitization in the markets, since many people do not have enough time to watch Television or listen to the Radio sensitizations.
The NPP regional women organizer Hajia Rahana Abdal Aziz and her team whilst donating the hand sanitizers also educated the market woman on best practices and safety precautions put out by the Ghana health service.
Some of the beneficiary market women who spoke to diamond news applauded the Hajia Rahana and her team for the education which they said will help them protect themselves against the deadly COVID-19.
They however appealed to government intensify the education about the coronavirus and also develop educational materials in locals languages to ensure all class of people can benefit.
