The Sugnayili community in the Saganarigu Municipality in the Northern Region is up in arms against their Member of Parliament, A.B.A Fuseini whom they have accused of failing to honor his electoral promises.
According to the community members, the MP promised within three month to fix the community roads by linking that to nearby communities, but he has abandoned them after securing their votes in last general elections.
They also claimed their elected legislator as one who is only good at quoting proverbs in parliament.
The angry Sugnayili residents say the former Deputy Northern Regional minister had continuously disappointed them and cannot boast of any development project in the area having led the constituency for close to 12 years.
Speaking to Diamond News on behalf of community elders, Alhassan Iddrisu popularly known as Nba Achiri who is also Sugnayili electoral area NDC chairman, he had endured enough insult from the MP and his family members who accused him of launching a media propaganda using the deplorable state of Sugnayili road, against Alhaji Fusieni.
Explaining the frustrations of Suganyili, Nba Achiri stated that their MP’s failure to develop the Sagnarigu Constituency clearly showed that he had ‘’absolutely nothing’’ to offer them and that it is important to show him the exit in the next internal parliamentary bid elections by giving Sagnarigu someone who would listen to their concerns and better their lot.
“He lied to us when he was campaigning. He promised to fix our bad roads and also build more schools to develop the Sagnarigu Constituency. with his experience in politics if he can’t lobby for any developmental projects for us and the young MP’s are doing that, then he’s telling us he can’t lead us again so we are prepared to show him the exit in the coming parliamentary elections,’’ Chairman Achiri stated.
The frustrated residents of Sugnayili community complained that they lack amenities such as, healthcare, public toilet facilities and road project.
‘’The youth in this community are fed up with the dishonesty of our politicians. We have an MP who seems not to care about our welfare and we will also teach him a lesson when the time comes,” a resident threatened.
