Some 60 youth who claim to be members of the governing New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region have expressed their disappointment at their regional party organizer Alhaji Rashid C.O.P who they say is making the NPP unpopular.
According to the group the regional organizer of NPP, engaged about 120 of them as potters for this year’s hajj with the promise to maintain them at the hajj village in Tamale throughout the hajj processes.
They are claiming that upon the return of the pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Rashid C.O.P has adopted a different approach by laying about half of the 120 porters off and recruiting newer people for the same work.
The frustrated potters, who expressed their disappointment to Diamond News, stated that the regional organizer of NPP after his action went further to threaten them to leave the party, if they were not pleased with his actions towards them.
They indicated that they were expected to receive remunerations that were rewarding for the task executed, but they were instead paid 125 Ghana cedis having spent between 5 to 6 days at the hajj village as potters.
The aggrieved youth believed that such posture from Alhaji Rashid COP was more like working against the party’s fortunes in the region; hence they are calling on the Northern Regional executives of the party to check the actions of the regional organizer, before he destroys the party’s chances in the region.

“We are disappointed with our regional organizer, Alhaji Rashid C.O.P especially with his approach to sacking us from the hajj village. His utterances were simply unfortunate. Alhaji Rashid asked us to leave the NPP if we cannot condone his attitude towards us. A good leader will not speak this way to his followers. These are the types of people we will describe as saboteurs of the Nana Addo government,” he stated.
Reacting to the allegations level against him, Alhaji Rashid C.O.P denied the claimed by the youth, saying he is working as the regional organizer of the party to satisfy all party faithful in the region.
