Some communities in the Kumbungu District hooked to the national grid

Thirteen communities in the Kumbungu District in the Northern Region have been connected to the national grid under government’s electrification project.

Among the beneficiary communities are; KumbungKukuo, Kumbung Yipelinaayili, Dulizugu, Satani, Zugu Yipeligu, Zugukushibo, ZuguDabogni, Mablo, kuli, Yuni, Buglang, Voggu-Botingli and Nyerizegu.

That brings to 65, the number of communities connected to the national grid, in the Kumbungu District out of 126 communities.

Speaking to Diamond News after addressing the chiefs and people at Kumbung Yipelinaayili, the DCE for Kumbungu, Abdul Salam Hamza Fatawu, advised the people particularly the youth to take advantage of the opportunity of being connected to the national grid to create jobs for themselves in other to improve on their livelihoods.

He said the connection of the communities to the national grid would pave way for many development projects to be established in the area, saying the assembly is committed to ensuring universal access to electricity by the people.

The Kumbungu DCE urged the people to pay their bills promptly to avoid been disconnected by NEDCo and also to enable the power suppliers to generate more revenue to extend power to other communities in the area.

The Chief and people of KumbunguYipelinaayili, speaking to Diamond News commended the kumbungu District assembly for the project and highlighted some challenges facing the area.
