More than 200 underprivileged women including widows from five Districts of the Northern Region have received support from the Second Lady, Samira Bawumai’s foundation.
The Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Foundation, made available for distribution; large quantities of assorted food items, including Rice, cooking oil, soft drinks and wax print among others.
The five District are Tolon, Kumbungu, Sagnarigu , Tamale Metro, and Savelugu. Addressing the widows at Yong–duuni, a farming community in the Sagnarigu Municipality, Mrs Bawumia underscored the need for other people to support the needy in the country.
The second lady also encouraged parents and guardians to take full advantage of government’s flagship programs especially the free senior high policy.
“Education is a leveler for all of us and I am passionate about humanitarian work because I know the different help make to people, ‘’and that is why I go to the length and breadth of the country to support women, I have support over 350 in the Ashanti Region with end of year festivity packages,’’ she stated
‘’Thousands of women have benefited from my interventions through the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Project (SEHP).”I will continue to empower women to realize their fullest potential.’’
The Municipal Chief Executive for Sagnarigu, Mariam Iddrisu
commended Hajia Samira Bawumia for the assistance and requested for more
support particularly in areas of education and capacity building for the rural
folks.
The MCE further commended the Northern Widows Agriculture Foundation management
for contributing to the upkeep of the widows in the Region.
For his part, the executive director of the northern widows’ agricultural foundation NWAF, Issah Iddrisu thanked the second lady for the gesture.
