School children in the Nyankpala community receive mentoring from UK NGO

Widening poverty has compounded the standards of education in the Tolon District, particularly the Nyankpala community, despite the presence of educational and research institutions in the area.

It is for this reason that Tzsedek International, A UK NGO, in partnership with the youth empowerment for life and other local partners, organized a literacy and empowerment session for some basic school pupils in the Nyankpala community.

The aim of the exercise, is to help reduce the rate of poverty in the area, through education and empowering the youth to be better citizens in future.

According to Charlie Taylor, is Ghana country director of Tzsedek International,the two week training focused on providing literacy and numeracy skills, empowerment training, citizenship and culture.
Youth Chief of Nyankpala, Sulemana Alhassan, expressed the gratitude of the chiefs and elders of the area for the support provided.

Head teacher of the Nyankpala DA School, Abdul-Rashid Alhassan, expressed gratitude to the NGO for the training, and said this will impact significantly on the lives of the beneficiaries in the future.
He called for more support to help mitigate the dwindling standards of education in the area.
