The Coalition of women groups and polling station women organizers of the governing party NPP in the northern region have threatened to embark on naked demonstration to the northern regional coordinating council, should Gender Minister Otiko Afisah Djaba and president Akuffo Addo, fail to address the lingering brouhaha over the school feeding program in the region.
The group in a press released copied to Diamond News, accused the minister of gender appointing staff of the programme along tribal lines and also sidestepping leadership of the programme in the region, a recipe for serious division in the region.
Activist of the NPP in the northern region, have for weeks, dominated headlines over activities of the school feeding program, resulting in the violent closure of its secretariat in the region and threats to attack zonal coordinators and monitoring personnel who defy their directives not to operate, by members of Burma-Camp, a Pro-NPP Vigilante group.
The Coalition have thus, vowed to hit the streets naked, should their concerns be swept under carpet.
Abubakari Fati, secretary of the coalition of Women Groups and Polling station Organizers, in an exclusive interview with Diamond News, said the coalition will not take things kindly, when the two week ultimatum, expires.
“We are giving the government a two week ultimatum to the government and the gender minister to listen to us, if that is not done, am sorry we may have to protest naked on the street”, Fati said.
she further noted, “the Gender Minister did not have the party at heart. it has come to our notice that, Otiko is doing distribution of positions of School feeding programme on tribal bases. we also have a problem with people who play dual roles, by being zonal coordinators and acting as caterers of the programme. Government and the Gender Ministry should act fast, else we will hits the streets”.
The coalition, threatened to force out one madam Juan whom they claimed, was an avid supporter of the NDC, but has been contracted under the school feeding programme.
However, Madam Juan in reacting to the accusation, denied ever receiving any contract regarding school feeding from the current leadership of the School Feeding programme.
