Ras Mubarak’s allegation should be treated as ‘mistaken choice of words’ after his humiliating defeat, says NDC executive

Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mohammed Abdul Salam has described as unfortunate, allegations by Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak that the Parliamentary candidate elect for the NDC in the constituency engaged in money laundering and vote buying ahead of the party primaries.

He said the party has not received any official complaint from the defeated MP concerning money laundering, vote buying or any misbehavior before or during the election by Dr Hamza Adam.

Incumbent NDC legislator for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak after his disastrous defeated in the just ended NDC primaries accused Dr. Hamza Adam of involving in dubious activities including money laundering which aided him in winning the primaries and that he has since reported the matter to the BNI for further investigations.

But speaking on the Diamond Power drive, Abdul Salam, the Regional Secretary said it could only be a mistaken choice of words by the NDC MP, following his shock of the defeat.

He revealed that Ras Mubarak had signed an undertaking with the party to continue to support the party and any person that will emerge as the candidate and therefore must work in that regard and stop making statements that can bring the party into disrupt.

Many political pundits within Tamale are attributing the defeat of Ras Mubarak to arrogance and disrespect to party executives in the Kumbungu constituency.

Ras Mubarak is among nine other NDC MPs who have lost their bid to represent the party in the 2020 general elections.
