Barely a year after government, introduced the free senior school policy; it appears some schools are still trying to recover from the excesses.
The policy which was meant to ease the burden on parents and increase school enrolment, had created infrastructural challenges for schools such as the Presby SHS (PRESEC), at Banvim in the Tamale south constituency.
Our checks at the school revealed that, first year students who benefited from the free SHS policy, sit on the bare floor during lessons.
The few privileged have to share the furniture with their peers.
Some of the students could not hide their frustration. They stated that the current arrangement; pose a major threat to their health and academic activities.
The girl’s prefect of the school shared some concerns.
Our news team faced resistance from the school’s management, when we tried to get some response.
The PTA Chairman of Presby SHS at Bamvim, who had earlier agreed to speak us, later refused to grant us an interview.
