Politicians from Dagbon warned to stay clear off Chieftaincy or be prepared to be embarrassed by DAMAZ

The leadership of Dagbon Malima Zugun, (DAMAZ), has cautioned politicians particularly from Dagbon against meddling in chieftaincy issues in Dagbon, or have themselves to be blamed.

According to DAMAZ, political interferences had in the past thrown the sacred institution into a state of confusion and conflict, since these politicians maneuvered their way and made gains out of the chieftaincy conflict in Dagbon.

The group indicated that as the Dagbon traditional area had opened a new chapter, it is only prudent for all Politicians from the area to desist from using the Dagbon chieftaincy issues for their political advantage.

DAMAZ in a press statement copied to Diamond News  and signed by Alhaji Jagbo Baako, Chairman for DAMAZ warned that, the group will not hesitate together with other sons and daughters of Dagbon; name and shame any Politician whose action or inactions will destabilized the peace in Dagbon

The group appealed to Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, to expedite action with processes that will lead to enskinning both Kampakuya Naa and Bolin Lana to their rightful chiefdoms.

Since the protracted chieftaincy dispute between the two royal families of Dagbon, DAMAZ was at the forefront of restoring lasting peace in the area. With the performances of the funerals of two Ya-nas from the Andani and Abudu gates, a new Ya-na, Abubakari Mahama,II has been enskinned.

The chairman of DAMAZ, also urged sons and daughters of Dagbon to desist from divisive comments and rather support the king of Dagbon to develop the area.

Meanwhile, DAMAZ has commended the three eminent chiefs led by Asantehene; Otumfour Osei Tutu II, for their efforts in healing the wounds of Dagbon. The group also commended various peace actors and stakeholders including former presidents of Ghana for their roles in restoring peace in Dagbon.

They also thanked the current president, Nana Akuffo Addo for implementing the committee’s report to the latter without fear or favor.
