POLICE ON A MANHUNT FOR A TEACHER WHO FIRED AND INJURED A STUDENT AT SALAGA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Police investigators have been deployed to the East Gonja Municipality of the Northern Region in search of one Asuma Sulley, a teacher at the Salaga Senior High School for allegedly shooting and injuring a student from the area.

Diamond News gathered that the victim, Mohammed Abdul- Rauf, 18yrs, a final year student of the Salaga Senior High School, sustained multiple injuries in the legs from the gunshots.

The victim has since been treated and discharged from the Salaga Government hospital.

Diamond News also learnt that the victim and his colleagues were suspended by the school authority for wrongful behavior.

However, on the fateful day of the incident, the victim, Mohammed Abdul Rauf, and his suspended colleagues had attended an entertainment programme and were seen on campus by the school’s cadet’s corp who informed their teachers about the development.

The said teacher, Asuma Sulley stormed the school campus but the suspended students had then vacated the schools premise. Mr Asuma later meet Mohammed Abdul Rauf and his colleagues on the way and confronted them resulting in the shootings.

However the Police Public Relations Officer, of Northern Regional police command, DSP Yusif Mohammed Tanko, updating Diamond News on the incident said efforts are underway to hunt down the teacher for investigations and prosecution.

‘’investigation are ongoing, but we have not been able to get the teacher arrested. We have gone to his house, we have gone to his school, but we have not been able to trace him. We have done all what we can, but we have not been able to get him yet,” DSP Yussif Tanko stated.’
