Police in Northern Region on mamhunt for two gunmen who shot and robbed a mobile money vendor at Vitting

The Northern Regional Police command is on a manhunt for two gunmen who shot and robbed a mobile money vendor at Vittin, a suburb of Tamale.

The victim Abukari Yissif  31, is currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital from gunshot wounds on his right arm.

He told Police investigators he was attacked by two armed men who arrived at his workplace on a motorbike and robbed him of his cash amounting to 2,000 Ghana cedis and a large quantity of scratch cards.

The incident happened at about 7 o’clock pm, on Sunday August 18, 2019 near the African Touch guest house opposite the Vittin Senior high school.

The Northern regional Police PRO DSP Yussif Tanko told Diamond News, Police later visited the crime scene and retrieved five spent shells fired from an AK 47 rifle.

The Police are calling on the public to volunteer information that will aid investigators and also lead to the arrest of the gunmen.

The Police are also urging persons that handle money at their workplaces to be security conscious and not act in a manner that is likely to make them fall prey to criminals.

Meanwhile, Police in the Savanna region with collaboration from their counterparts in the Upper East region have arrested two suspects in connection with the death of two persons at Lukula in a conflict last Saturday, August 17, 2019.

The Suspects Abdul Rauf and AmiduFuseini were arrested on Sunday August 18, 2019 at their hideout in Sandema in the Upper East region.

The two fled to Sandema when police went after them in connection with the  murder of Alidu Yakubu 37 and Amadu Yakubu 40 years in the Lukula conflict.

Alidu Yakubu died of machete wounds on his head whiles Amadu Yakubu died of multiply gunshot wounds in his ribs during the conflict on Saturday.

The two suspects were expected to appear in count on Monday August 19 in Damongo.

Some peace has returned to Lukula and its environs following the deployment of a combined team of Police and Military personal into the troubled area.
