The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo has said the
police announcement that they’ve been able to locate the kidnapped
Takoradi girls could endanger the lives of the girls.
The Ghana Police Service finally succumbed to mounting pressure from the
families of the kidnapped ladies and civil society organizations who
demanded the whereabouts of their daughters and on April 2, 2019 told
the world at a press briefing that they knew the location of the girls.
But speaking to Joy FM, Madam Gloria Akufo described the police statement as regrettable.
“People keep saying they say they’ve traced them so why don’t they tell
us where they are? They could even endanger their lives if they did
that, I find it regrettable that, that information was put out that they
had been traced. That’s alerting whoever unless we’ve taken charge of
the girls, if you say we’ve traced them that signals those who are
holding them and they could change the location.”
