PEACE ADVOCACY GROUP IMPLORES SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF DAGBON TO JOIN IN A PEACE WALK ON SATURDAY AS PART OF EFFORT TO RESTORE THE LAND TO NORMALCY

The leadership of Dagbon Malima Zungo (DAMAZ) a peace advocacy group in Northern Region is to undertake a peace walk to remind the people of Dagbon about the need to safeguard peace and unity during and after the performance of the two funerals of their late kings.

The three eminent Kings resolved that the Abudu Royal family should perform the funeral of the late Yaa Naa Mahamadu Abdulai, beginning Decembers 14 to 28, 2018 to be followed by the funeral of the late Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II, from January 4 to 18th 2019.

The two funerals are to be performed in the old Gbewaa palace in Yendi, the traditional capital of the Dagombas.

However DAMAZ as part of its activities to support government and the three eminent chiefs to fully implement the road map for peace in Dagbon, has collaborated with the youth groups of the two parties to undertake peace walk exercise in Tamale

Speaking to Diamond News ahead of the intended peace walk exercise, the president of the Dagbon Malima Zungo, Alhaji Baako Jagbo, said son and daughters of Dagbon must support efforts at restoring peace to the Dagbon traditional area.

He also called on the people of Dagbon most especially the youth to embrace peace by joining the peace walk on 1st December.

The recent happenings should be a wake-up call to all to sit up. The peace of Dagbon cannot be taken for granted as everybody would have to share in the responsibility of helping to protect it. We are expecting many people to take part the peace walk to send signal to the world that the people of Dagbon want peace,” Alhaji Baako Jagbo stated.

The peace walk would start off from the Tamale Jubilee Park and participants would walk through some selected principal streets of Tamale,
