Parliamentary candidate hopeful for NPP in the Tamale Central Constituency, Abass Zakaria tour Limited Registration Centres

An aspiring Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tamale Central Constituency, Abass Zakaria has toured some centres of the ongoing Limited Registration Exercise, to monitor the exercise being undertaken by the Electoral Commission in the Tamale Metropolis.

The exercise is meant to register Ghanaians who had just turned 18 years and also those who have not registered for varied reasons, all in preparation towards the 2020 general elections.

The NPP parliamentary candidate hopeful, took his visit to the Tamale Metro Electoral Commission’s office at Vittin in the Tamale Metropolis and presented some beverages to the party agents and also for those who had turned 18 years and were going through the registration processes.

Speaking to Diamond News after interacting with some party agents and the EC officials at the center, Abass Zakaria praised the EC officials and the state security for ensuring smooth and a cordial environment. He also commend political parties in the Metropolis for cooperating with the EC officials.

However, he was quick to caution the Electoral Commission against complacency especially as the days wears on. He urges those who have turned 18 years to visit the Centres and register to enable them participate in the 2020 general elections.

Abass Zakaria also stated that the NPP would continue to monitor the exercise and ensure that only persons qualified are registered in order to vote next year.“It wouldn’t have been possible for this exercise to come on but for what I have observed, I realized that the government has done marvelously well. We should be each others keeper as stakeholders and so far there is co-operation from both sides of the political divide at the centres”.
