The Vice President, Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia has hinted there are large deposit of oil and gold in the Northern part of the country which in the next decade, would be explored to the benefit of the people.
According him, Northern region apart from the fertile lands, also is endowed with a lot of natural resources, which include gold and oil, and it is now that people are awakening to these realities.
Addressing Chiefs and the Muslim fraternity in Tamale, at the annual Quran commentary ceremony under the auspices of Sheikh Luqman Bamba, vice president Bawumia stated that a data available from Ghana National Petroleum Corporation showed that there is large deposit of oil in the three regions of the North.
He has however urged people leaving within the three Regions not to allow illegal miners to destroy the benefits the gold would have for the regions, and the country at large.
The Vice president also stated that the NPP administration led by Nana Addo is putting up the necessary flagship programs in place to curb the issue of conflicts in the country.
