The chief of Nyankpala Zongo, Osofo Patrick Apullah has welcomed the pledge by the NPP PC in the area Alhaji Habib Iddrisu to sponsor educational needs of three best JHS graduates throughout their senior high with costs not covered by the free SHS policy.
According to him, the pledge if fulfilled will not only ease pressure on parents, but will also encourage students in the area to take their studies seriously since they may want to be part of the beneficiaries.
The NPP PC for Tolon constituency made the promise to provide financial package for three best students that would enroll into senior high.
Alhaji Habib also pledged to extend the sponsorship package to include the best performing female student as a way of encouraging girl child education in the Tolon district.
Responding to such a move, Osofo Apuallah speaking to Diamond news described the promise as laudable and should be embraced by all. He however, was quick to add that the implementation may face some challenges.
“The pledge is nice and a good starter. It will encourage the students to take their studies seriously, and this would lead to improved teaching and learning in the district. It will also encourage parents to always be on the wards since they may want them to be part of the beneficiaries. However we are looking at the implementation, if he can implement it whether he wins or not? I think it will go a long way to encourage our children to take their studies seriously,” he added.
