Nyankpala residents complain about poor sanitation and the total neglect by the Tolon District Assembly

Some Resident of Nyankpala have expressed worry over the inability of the Tolon District Assembly to maintain public toilets in the area.

According to the residents the toilets, have turn into death trap as results of the District Authorities failure to engage caretakers to manage the facilities, leaving the structures in a dire state.

They also lamented that the foul smell had engulfed the entire vicinity and those poses health hazards to not only users, but the entire community.

Diamond News visited some of public toilets in Nyankpala township, and the one located at Nyankpala market was the worse off.

For example, the male toilet had lots of leftover cigarettes pieces which could be attributed to excessive smoking by users to ‘reduce’ the potency of the smell.

Used toilet papers were also scattered all over and the squatting places were nothing to write.

The residents expressing their frustration to Diamond News about the current state of sanitation at Nyankpala complained bitterly about some of the challenges they face.

Most of the issues they raised bordered on public toilets and refuse dump sites. According to the Nyakpala residents there has been an upsurge of open defecation due to the poor nature of the public toilets in the area.

They complained that all efforts to reach out to the District authorities to address the sanitation challenge had proved futile.
