Nyab Mion Lana Naa Abdulai Mahamaru presents education materials worth Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis to two schools in Sambu in the Mion District

The paramount chief of Mion traditional area, Naa Abdulai Mahamaru as part of his educational project has presented educational items worth GHC10,000.00 to Saambu Primary School and Saambu Junior High Schools in the Mion District of the Northern Region.

The materials include text books, erasers, pens, pencils, Mathematical sets among others, were presented to the schools authority to be distributed among students in the school. The donation which is under the auspices of N’yab “Mion-Lana’s Back to School Project” aimed at encouraging children  in the area to develop passion on education.

Presenting the items at the premises of the Mion JHS, Nyab Mion Lana Naa Abdulai Mahamadu stated that, the gesture is part of his efforts to help improve teaching and learning in the Mion traditional area.

He has however called on government, NGOs and other philanthropists to assist the Mion District Education Directorate to address the persisted challenges facing the education sector in the area. He also pledged to continue lobbying support for schools in the area.

“I want to use this occasion to appeal to Government, NGOs and philanthropists to assist in solving the myriad of challenges facing schools in the Mion District, particularly the lack of furniture for the many pupils in the Sambu Primary School and Sambu Junior High Schools. I will continue to lobby organizations and individuals to assist the two schools as well as other schools within the Mion Traditional Area”, he assured.

The District Chief Executive of Mion, Mohammed Hashmin Abdallah who witness the presentation commended the chief for the gesture and plead to convey the plea by the chief to the high authorities to support the education sector in the district.

On his part, the headteacher speaking, on behalf of the staff and pupils of Sambu Primary and JHS thanked Nyab Mion-Lana for the kind gesture, saying the donation will go a long way to address the challenges facing the two schools. He also appealed to benevolent organizations to come to their aid.
