The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended seven of its members from the party in the Sagnarigu constituency.
The seven members were suspected to have played a key role in last week’s vandalism at the party secretariat of the Sagnarigu Constituency in the Northern Region.
It would be recalled that some youth group claiming to be members of the ruling party went on rampage at the Sagnarigu Constituency NPP secretariat to register their displeasure over the regional executive’s failure to capture them on the ongoing National Identification Authority (NIA) recruitment training at the Sagnarigu Constituency.
The Regional Executive Committee in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Northern Regional secretary of NPP Alhaji Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu and intercepted by Diamond News indicated that the seven suspended members who happened to be polling station executives have been identified to have led the group to destroy the party’s properties. It said they also led the same group to disrupt an on-going NIA training.

LETTER OF SUSPENSION
The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the NPP took notice of the recent disturbances that ensued at the Sagnarigu constituency office by some aggrieved members of the party culminating in the destruction of some properties.
Following this, the regional party formed an ad hoc committee to investigate the matter. After preliminary investigations, the committee recommends that disciplinary actions be taken against the following executives for the various roles they played in the said disturbances contrary to the provisions of the party constitution.

The regional party has, in the light of this, suspended all the seven affected executives pursuant to Artcile 3(7) of the party constitution and accordingly referred their conduct to the Regional Disciplinary Committee of the party for disciplinary actions. They are encouraged, in their own interest, to avail themselves for the necessary disciplinary proceedings.
