NPP Northern Region disqualifies 3, approves 19 for primaries

The Northern Regional branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released a list of parliamentary candidates shortlisted for its primaries across 9 constituencies in the Northern Region.

Twenty – two aspiring candidates had hopes of contesting.  But only 19 made the cut, with three being disqualified after 2 days of vetting by the party’s National Parliamentary Vetting Committee.

The finalists for the April 25 primaries comprise 2 females and 17 males, while 2 are going unopposed.

Key among the disqualified aspirants include Emmanuel Kotin of Saboba Constituency, Hardi Adams and Mahama Osman of the Gushegu Constituency have both been disqualified on various legitimate grounds.

A Statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the party Alhaji Sibdow Alhassan Yakubu, however stated that, “any APC who feels dissatisfied with the recommendations of the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee (NPVC) can seek re-dress from the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee of the party”.

 *RECOMMENDED PARLIAMENTARY ASPIRANTS IN CONSTITUENCIES WITH SITTING MPs*

In line with the rules, regulations and guidelines for the conduct of parliamentary primaries, the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee, Northern Region hereby publishes the list of recommended Aspiring Parliamentary Candidates (APCs) after two days of vigorous vetting of 22 aspiring parliamentary candidates.

Of the 22 APCs, 19 comprising 2 females and 17 males have been recommended to contest the 25th April, 2020 Primaries in the Northern Region.

Emmanuel Kotin of Saboba Constituency, Hardi Adams and Mahama Osman of the Gushegu Constituency have been disqualified on various legitimate grounds.

Any APC who feels dissatisfied with the recommendations of the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee(NPVC) can seek re-dress from the National Parliamentary Appeals Committee of the party.

Once again, the NPVC, wishes to extend its appreciation  to the Constituency Elections Committees, APCs, the media and the security for making the exercise a success.
