NPP is the only party northerners can rely on – Samed Gunu

Member of Parliament for Savelugu constituency, Alhaji Abdul Samed Gunu, has stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the party that loves the people of the North than any other party in Ghana.

According to him, it is only NPP government that has vision of implementing series of social interventions to alleviate poverty in the northern part of the country.

He mentioned that, the introduction of planting for food and jobs has created a lot of employment for the teaming youth within the northern part of the country. He added government is putting more efforts to put up rice processing factory within the Savelegu municipality saying, “this is going to create job opportunity for the youth most especially the graduates” in this part of the country.

Alhaji Gunu made this statement as he presented his nomination forms to the constituency executives of NPP to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Savelegu constituency on Thursday 13 February, 2020.

He was accompanied by party faithfuls who thronged the constituency office of NPP at Savelegu. The Savelegu legislator is seeking re-election for the second time, since he entered parliament in January 2017, after winning the seat for the first time for NPP in the last general elections.

 The NPP law maker also stated that, the ruling new patriotic party in their three years in charge of the Savelegu constituency is far better than NDC 24 years in the constituency

He said the NPP government through his efforts within the three years in the constituency has been able to implemented series of developmental projects and also improved the lives of the people in the area.

He said his outfit has carried out several infrastructural developments including re-graving of major roads like the Savelegu – Kumbungu road which has been left for so many decades, “the NDC in their 24 years in charge of this constituency failed to carryout major maintenance on this particular stretch. They always lie to the people of Muglaa zone, that if they giving them their mandate,they will work on it, for good 24 years, Now we have been in office for just three years. Go and see the work we are doing on that stretch. Very soon we are going to put asphalt on it from Savelegu to Kumbungu and also the same thing will be done on Savelugu, Nanton road in the coming month”, he stated.

 Speaking to Diamondfmonline.com Alhaji Samed Gunu mentioned that, the NPP through his efforts within their short period in the constituency, the Savelegu Municipal Hospital, also saw a major facelift to improve health care delivery in the area.

 “The people can bear with me that we are on course because we have fulfilled most of our promise”, he noted.

He said his outfit would do whatever it takes to make sure that he retained the seat for the NPP

“Our opponent NDC claimed to borrow Savelegu seat to the NPP. I am going to assure them that today mark the very day I have filed my nomination for the people to renew my mandate and campaign has kick started. I will ensure that we market all our developmental policies to enable us retain the seat for the NPP.

“It is my duty to ensure that we retained this seat for the betterment of my people, and I will surely do that, in shaa Allah come December 7th I will emerge victorious. The battle is still the Lord”, he stated.

That is the basis on which we will go forward, praying to God Almighty that He will make it possible for Four More for Somed Gunu and Four More for Nana”

Hon Samed Gunu commenting on the water crises at the Savelegu Municipality announced that, the Savelegu Municipality and its surroundings will benefit from the construction and commissioning of a new water treatment plant at Yapei. He said government has secured £276 million loads for the project and will on June cut sod for the commencement for the project.

”The project when completed, the water crises within Savelegu Municipality will being thing of past”

He however visited some chiefs and party elders in the constituency to seek their blessings as he officialyl goes into the race.

Alhaji Samed Gunu during the 2016 general elections defeated the former MCE for Savelegu Municipal Assembly Hon Alhassan Red, and the favorite Independent candidate Iddrisu Bonlong.

So far, two persons have picked forms to contest the Savelegu primaries. They include Alhaji Mohammed Nazir Zakari, , and the incumbent MP Alhaji Sumed Gunu.
