NPP condemns the attack on Diamond FM’s female reporter.

The Northern Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the unprovoked attack on a Diamond FM reporter on Saturday at the Tamale College of education where the Sagnarigu constituency held its parliamentary primaries.

The regional communications director Sule Salifu who described the attack as shameless, irresponsible and inhuman apologized unreservedly and assured the party’s’ readiness to cooperate with the Police investigations that will lead to the arrest and prosecution the perpetrator.

Diamond FMs’ reporter Sankpi Sabaina was brutally assaulted by some NPP supporters at the Sagnarigu Constituency while covering the Parliamentary Primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region.

She was head butted and slapped multiple times and experiencing a blackout until Police came to her rescue.

But speaking on the Diamond Power drive with host Mohammed Ibn Abdullah, Sule Salifu said the NPP under the leadership of Chairman Samba will crack the whip on any member of the party who misbehaves.

Meanwhile the Northern regional chapter of the Ghana journalist association has threatened to boycott all activities of the New Patriotic if they refuse to sanction the perpetrator.

In a statement signed by Chairman Caesar Abagali, the GJA said the media must always remain partners in development other than being used us punching bags.

The attack on Sankpi Sabaina adds to the growing list of attack on media persons in their line of duty under the Nana Addo led government.

In May this year, the Media Foundation for West Africa published that 17 journalists had been attacked since 2018.
