Northern regional Minister Justifies ban on Bimbillah, Kpatinga and Gonja areas from celebrating “Damba”

Northern regional minister, Salifu Saeed says the decision not to allow some localities in the northern region to celebrate this year’s Damba Festival, was to ensure security isn’t compromised in anyway.

According the Salifu Saeed, the regional Security Council, of which he is the chairman, took the measure in order to avert any calamities during the celebrations of the Damba festivals in those areas, following threats and pockets of violence clashes recorded in the past

Speaking on the Diamond Power Drive as part of activities of a blood donation exercise on the 2017 Damba Festival, the regional Minister Said, the exemption of Bimbilla, Kpatinga, , Mankango and Kafaba in the east Gonja district, and Jantong in Salaga North, were to ensure absolute peace.

The regional minister also used the opportunity to invite investors and many other well meaning non-indigenes, to take interest in the festival, to open the area to more investments, thereby creating employment and development of the area.

Diamond FM, as part of activities marking the 2017 edition of the Damba festival, has rolled a number of activities including blood donation exercise in support for the TTH blood bank, football gala among various groups.

Loyal listeners of the station had the opportunity to interact with staff and their favourite presenters at the station, in an outside broadcasted programs.
