The Northern Development Authority is set to implement a project dubbed the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Program (IPEP), which is aimed at providing infrastructure to communities within the authority’s catchment area.
The IPEP project is intended to ensure physical development within Northern Ghana.
It will focus on the provision of schools, health facilities, roads and other facilities that will ensure poverty reduction.
Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya who disclosed this to diamond news after calling on some chiefs within the Tamale metropolis said several other developmental projects will soon be rolled out by the NDA.
“We have just started a new NDA and this new NDA intend to bring out projects for the development of Northern Ghana. We have plans and we have partners who are already coming to us to show us their proposals and we are hoping that very soon we will start projects across our operational area”.
Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya called on traditional authorities within the NDA operational area to support the authority to achieve its vision of transforming the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone into a place of opportunities and free from poverty.
The Northern development authority CEO and his team visited the GulkpNaa palace, the Bulana Palace and the Dakpma Palace.
The purpose of the visit was to seek the support and blessing of the Chiefs and as well inform them about the vision of the Northern Development Authority as the NDA work to transform Northern Ghana.
The chiefs in turn, pledged their support to Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya and his team and urged them to work hard to create job opportunities for the youth as well as bringing the needed development to Northern Ghana.
The Gulkpe Naa Alhassan, urged the Northern Development Authority to pay critical attention to agriculture and agribusiness since this is tied to the livelihood of majority of people in Northern Ghana.
The Northern Development Authority (NDA) was set up by an Act of Parliament, Act 963, 2017 to provide a framework for the accelerated economic and social development of the Northern Development Zone (NDZ) and for related matters.
