Nanton MP donates 169 dual desks and 5,040 books to four schools.

Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency Mohammed Hardi Tufeiru has come to the aid of some four basic schools in the constituency by donating 169 dual desks to the schools.

The beneficiary schools are Zokuga E/A Basic School, Gulo Primary, Sanvili Basic School and Balishei E/A basic school.

The donation was to create a conducive environment for the pupils to study well and improve their academic performance in the schools and the district at large.

Before the donation, pupils were seen either sitting on blocks or lying on the floor to study and write notes, a situation teachers said affected their academic performance.

At separate events to handover the decks to school authorities, the MP Mohammed Tufeiru said the donation was part of his vision to improve the quality of education within the Nanton District before the end of his four year mandate.

He opined that, provision of quality education within the constituency was his top most agenda and that explains why he is committed to reducing the 1,400 desks deficit in the district.

The Nanton MP also urged the students to study hard to enable them become responsible citizens in future.

5,040 pieces of exercise books were also donated to the various schools in the district and all basic schools are expected to receive their share as part of efforts to reduce the burden on parents.

Headteacher of Balshei E/A Basic School Adam Mohammed Awal on behalf of the other schools thanked the MP for the gesture and promised to ensure judicious use of both the desks and the books.

He however appealed to the MP to extend a helping hand to the community and the school by providing them a source of portable water.
