Nakpanzoo community warns that they will not vote for personalities during 2020, if their roads remain in its current deplorable state.

Some residents of Nakpanzoo community in the Tamale metropolis have registered their anger over the poor state of roads linking to other communities through a demonstration over the weekend.

According to the residents, the roads in the area have been in a deplorable state for several years and promises from authorities and subsequent governments to fix them had all failed.

The Nakpanzoo community claimed they had been neglected for a long time and not had its fair share of development particularly with the road, as promised by the city authorities and Member of Parliament in the area Haruna Iddrisu who is also the Minority leader.

The angry residents indicated that, several residential properties were pulled down to pave way for the construction of the roads but for over fifteen years now, nothing concrete had been done to ease their plight. They lamented that the area becomes flooded during raining season due to the lack of proper road network and drainage system.

They stated that, the Tamale metropolitan chief executive Iddrisu Musah Superior over the Last month, tour the area and promise to fix the roads in the area in less than two months, but he is yet to fulfil his promise.

Speaking to Diamond News exclusively, the angry residents called on the Tamale Metro Assembly and their MP to come fix the road.

The residents of Nakpanzoo also warned that boycotting the 2020 general elections remains an option, if the road remains in that same deplorable state.

“We are demonstrating over the bad roads. For 16 years, we have been voting for Lawyer Haruna but we are yet to see any development. This year, we are coming to vote for development not personalities. If he fails to fix our roads, we are not going to vote for him. We are promising ourselves that if our road remains the same, we will not allow any ballot box in this area in the 2020 general elections“, one female protestor warned.
