The northern regional manager of the National Road Safety Commission, Alexander Ayata has cautioned drivers in the region and the country at large to be cautious on the road during the coming yuletide festivities.
According to him the region has for a period of nine months, this year,from road crashes, hence, it was important for drivers to take precautionary measures when driving on the road to ensure accident free Christmas.
In less than two weeks, Christians in Ghana will join other believers across the world to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, and during such important festivities, a lot of traveling takes place.
However, it is during such period that the roads become busy and the country experience horrible accidents with lots of lives being lost on the highways.
Speaking to Diamond News exclusively ahead of this year yuletide festivities, the northern regional director of road safety commission, Alexander Ayata, entreated passengers to advice drivers who driving reckless on the road.
He also called on general public most especially opinion leaders to be part of the campaign to protect lives during the coming Christmas period.
Alexandra Ayata, also encouraged security personnel particularly the police MTTD to be on top of their duty by bringing reckless drivers to book and desist from extorting money from the drivers within this period.
