N/R referendum: Voting underway IN SOME PARTS OF THE NORTHERN REGION

Voting has started in the districts marked for the creation of both SAVANNA and NORTH EAST REGIONS out of the Northern Region.

This exercise, which is part of the referendum taking place across four regions to create six new regions in the country, has seen some residents turning out in their numbers to vote

The process started at exactly 7am as advertised.

Over two million Ghanaians, are expected to take part of this exercise, the proposed regions are Western North, Bono East, Ahafo, Savanna, North East, and Oti Regions.

A total of 2,260,724 voters are expected to vote at 4,798 polling stations in the enclaves.

There are joint heavy security personnel on the grown monitoring the process to ensure law and order is enforced. It is a very smooth process and everyone is happy casting their vote.

Meanwhile, some residents are optimistic that both North East Savanna Region will be created at the end of the process.

One of the residents who spoke to Diamond News said they believe more young people will gain employment if the region is created.
