N/R: Hundred’s Walk in Solidarity with Mayor of Tamale

Tamale residents for Development (a Bi-partisan) group within the Tamale metropolis, on Saturday embarked on a health walk in solidarity with mayor of the area, Iddrisu Musah Superior.

The health walk, was occasioned by a recent protest by some youth of the ruling NPP in the region, as well disgruntled traders on the streets and operators of the engine powered tricycle (yellow yellow), over ruthless manner in which the TAMA task force, executed the decongestion exercise.

The agitating youth of the party, also accused him of gross disrespect to party structures in the region, and his foul tongue.

However, in a petition, read by a member of the group, A.U Farouk after the solidarity walk, the group hailed the achievement of the mayor in the past 12 months.

According to the group, the metropolis had not been the same again, with emphasis on the clamp down of miscreants at the Aboabu forest and prostitutes operating on the streets, as well ban on under aged operators of the engine powered tricycles.

“The impressive manner the mayor, with his combined special task force of the military, the police and the TAMA Task force, swooped the main forest to rescue teenage drug abusers and arrested offenders, the ban placed on minors operating “yellow yellow” tricycles and the extraordinary step in decongesting the central business district, are bold initiatives by the mayor”, the petition stated.

Other initiatives such as the inauguration of the Behisung advisory board, whose mandate was a constitute a volunteer task force to ensure minors are not allowed to roam at ungodly hours, the tour of the mayor to all electoral areas within the metropolis and development of some satellites markets are monumental, and deserved commendation, it added.

Various speakers after the peace walk took turns to encourage the mayor to continue with his good works, promised to offer their unflinching support to him.
