N/R: Candidates did not bribe delegates, they only provided food and refreshment- NPP Communications director

The New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region says it recently held constituency primaries were not fraught with vote buying. According to the executives of the party in the region, under no circumstance did candidates have the opportunity to induce delegates or woo them for votes.

Giving an assessment on the exercise that took place between 24 and 25th February, Regional communications officer of the NPP, Issahaku Abdul Latif said candidates only made provision for food and refreshment, and that should not be mistaken for bribes.

“am surprised this issue has come up.The fact is, i visited all the constituencies within he metropolis, and i can state to you on authority that, there was no incidence of vote buying. at most what the candidates did was that, the provided some food and refreshments and then some snacks”, Isahaku Abdul-latif, stated.

The regional communications officer also noted that, minus some little hitches, the process was generally peaceful, devoid of chaos and tension. He expressed gratitude to the candidates, for exhibiting a high sense of maturity, before during and also after the outcome of the polls.
