MUBARAK WAKASO IMPRESSED WITH BLACK STARS RETURN

Returnee Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says he was impressed with the total performance of the team in the final FIFA World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday in Cape Coast.

Wakaso lasted the entire duration as the Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Egypt. Mahmoud “Shikabala” AbdelRazak opened the scoring for Egypt before Edwin Gyasi cancelled out the lead for Ghana.

The Deportivo Alaves midfielder was invited to the Black Stars team for the first time since the reappointment of Coach Kwesi Appiah and he bossed the midfield controlling play, winning and distributing the ball with ease.

After an impressive game, the former Villareal midfielder indicated he was impressed with the total output of the team.

Mubarak Wakaso is being touted as the next “Sule Ali Muntari” in the national team after his displays over the years for the side. Many have compared his tough style to the former Black Stars kingpin Sule Muntari who is currently on suspension form the team after the World Cup in Brazil back in 2014.

The midfielder will now return to club side Deportivo Alaves for the La Liga.

Wakaso joined the Spanish side from Greek side Panathaniakos on a three year deal.
