MTN presents GHC 10,000 to Ya-na towards this year’s Damba

Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) Ghana has presented to the Ya-na and the Dagbon Traditional council, a cheque for GH¢10,000.00 in support of this year’s Damba festival.

MTN committed GH¢ airtime valued at 1000.00 in addition to sponsoring football matches and trophies for the winners of this year’s Damba games in Yendi which is valued over 6,000.00.

This year’s Damba would be climaxed on Saturday in Yendi, the traditional capital of the Dagombas and is the first of its kind in 20 years, to be celebrated in Dagbon under a new king.

Acting General Manager for the northern sector, Simon Amoh who led a team from MTN to present the cheque to the Ya-na at the Gbewaa palace in Yendi, said the gesture was to reciprocate the huge support given by the people of the area towards the company’s operations.

According to Mr. Amoh, MTN cherishes the unity and peace among the Dagbon people, hence the company sought to affirm its appreciation for the support, patronage and loyalty to the MTN brand, in addition to the reception it continually enjoys in the area.

He expressed MTN’s resolve to promote the nation’s cultural heritage and values through festivals which boost tourism and brings about economic development.

Ya-na Abukari Mahama commended MTN for the support to the Damba festival and pledged the traditional authorities’ readiness to assist the company’s operations in the area.
