Mayor of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, Iddrisu Musah Superior has bemoaned the lackadaisical attitude of business operator within the Tamale Metropolis when it came to honoring their tax obligations to the assembly.
According to him, the assembly is unable to properly function and deliver on its mandate owing to the scarcity of resources arising from some business operators’ refusal to pay their taxes to the assembly.
Speaking to Diamond news in an exclusive interview, Mayor Musah Superior revealed that, only 6 percent of business operators; within the Tamale Metropolis paid their taxes in the year 2017.
He bemoaned the lack of education among locals on the need to honor their tax obligation and said the assembly will soon begin a tax sensitization program.
Musah Superior however indicated that the assembly will soon begin illegal actions against individuals and business operators’ to comply them faithful their tax obligations with the assembly.
He also called for a collaborative approach between the public and the assembly towards the fight against poor sanitation in the Metropolis.
